The Beach's Lesson

As she walked on the beach,
Turning away from the eternal ocean,
She noticed…

Vast, Gloomy, Immeasurable,
Extended the waters,
Like the tears she was leaving behind.

Firm, Unmoving, Concrete,
The Earth stood below,
Like the past she could not change.

Infinite, Clear, yet Cloudy,
Waited the sky high above,
Like the promising but uncertain future.

Sunny, Green, Lucid,
Invited the shrub-bordered path ahead,
Like today, which the rising sun just ushered in.

Then she knew where to turn,
Not behind, not below, not above,
But in front.

There was no looking back.
Full steam ahead into the day, she jumped,
With a prayer on her lips,
And courage in her heart.
